As we paddle the nutrient rich waters of the Gwaii Haanas it is common to see an abundance of wildlife including dolphins, sea lions lounging on rocky outcrops (and sometimes swimming along with you as you paddle) humpback and orca whales gliding through channels, bald eagles, galls, petrels and the rare tufted puffin perched on cliffs and brightly coloured sea stars scattered on tidal shallows. This kayaking expedition is graded easy to intermediate. The tour starts at Sandspit, where you will be transported by zodiac to a campsite near Hot Springs Island. Here you will get familiar with the mixed fleet of single and double sea kayaks, and then paddle to the springs and soak in heated pools of varying temperatures while overlooking the ocean. Spectacular View! The campsites we use are often old homesteads, ancient Haida villages or old growth forests. Our goal is to travel safely in accordance with weather, tides and general interest of the group. All meals are generous and deliciously prepared, served buffet style. We do cater to food requirements if sufficient notice is received. Our kayaking expedition takes us through areas of sheltered and open waters, channels and inlets and to islands and rustic campsites where we can relax on sandy beaches, enjoy the incomparable scenery and ponder the mysteries of Gwaii Haanas. Come join us. Space is limited to 8 persons.
